Mille grazie all'equipaggio di Jayhawk e al nuotatore di salvataggio (credo che si chiami Joey; le mie scuse se sbaglio) che mi è venuto a prendere a metà pomeriggio di venerdì 31 maggio, quando sono diventato gravemente disidratato a causa della cinetosi durante l'ultimo tappa della gara SoCal 300 da Santa Barbara a San Diego in barca a vela, Macondo. Eravamo a circa 100 miglia dalla costa di SD quando ho chiamato la richiesta per l'evacuazione. Dopo essere tornato a SD, è stato un breve viaggio in ambulanza al pronto soccorso dell'UCSD Hillcrest, alcune ore per il controllo e il trattamento, quindi ero sulla via del ritorno a casa a Marina del Rey. Senza l'assistenza del CG, l'alternativa era almeno un altro giorno sulla barca con un esito incerto sulle mie condizioni.
L'operazione è andata molto bene ed ero solo nell'acqua molto fredda per pochi minuti prima di essere nel cesto e poi nell'elicottero. Grazie ancora per essere lì per noi marinai quando abbiamo un problema e abbiamo bisogno di cure di emergenza.
Una delle più grandi esperienze che io e mia moglie abbiamo condiviso. Grazie mille per tutti gli sforzi e il tempo per rendere questa esperienza così eccellente. ... Veramente ,, grazie. Messa in servizio di Benjamin Bottoms.
