A tutti gli studenti universitari / laureati di Drexel in arrivo: Evita questo edificio a tutti i costi e cerca un alloggio fuori dal campus altrove. Ho vissuto a Stiles per il mio primo semestre come studente di giurisprudenza senza sapere in cosa stavo entrando da quando ho verificato che avevo bisogno di un alloggio sulla mia domanda. Come studente che ha vissuto in ogni tipo di incarico di alloggio immaginabile da dormitori tripli senza aria condizionata a case greche durante i miei anni universitari a Rowan, questo è il posto peggiore che abbia mai visto. Prima di tutto, questo edificio non si trova nel campus di Drexel. Si trova a circa 15 minuti di auto da University City. Può sembrare un cliché, ma Stiles non si trova in un quartiere sicuro. Ho avuto tre incidenti nei quattro mesi in cui sono rimasto lì con tossicodipendenti per strada a molestarmi e minacciarmi mentre camminavo semplicemente verso il Dragon Shuttle. Se guardi fuori su Wood St, vedrai una fila di persone che dormono sul marciapiede, accendono un cucchiaio o si attaccano degli aghi tra le braccia, soprattutto di notte. Per non parlare del fatto che non ho mai visto un solo agente di polizia di Drexel, agente di polizia di Filadelfia o guardia di sicurezza da nessuna parte vicino al luogo poiché il quartiere non è affatto pattugliato. Tuttavia, se decidi di far visitare un amico o un familiare, è necessario che venga scattata la foto segnaletica e il documento d'identità all'ingresso nell'edificio e molti (non tutti) i guardiani del banco erano molto scortesi con gli studenti. L'edificio non dispone di cavi o mezzi per guardare la televisione. Se sei fortunato, di tanto in tanto Netflix potrebbe funzionare senza interruzioni per tutto il tempo se possiedi una chiavetta Roku. Anche il Wifi esiste a malapena. Un altro grosso problema era l'impianto idraulico del nostro appartamento. Due volte nel mio ultimo mese i tubi al piano di sotto collegati al nostro bagno lo hanno fatto traboccare nel corridoio del pavimento e le strutture hanno dovuto posizionare 5 ventole odiose nel nostro appartamento per giorni e strappare le pareti. È ulteriormente difficile fare il bucato quando c'è una lavatrice su tutto il pavimento. La parte peggiore della mia esperienza è stata quando una donna mi ha seguito da Arch St all'edificio sostenendo che mi avrebbe fatto del male perché non le avevo dato i soldi. Quando ho segnalato questo all'ufficio alloggi di Drexel affermando che non mi sentivo più al sicuro e ho chiesto di essere rilasciato per il semestre primaverile, hanno completamente ignorato il mio messaggio e hanno proceduto a farmi pagare $ 2000 per non essere tornato in questa tana. Mentre la mia esperienza accademica a Drexel è stata a dir poco eccezionale, questo posto dovrebbe essere condannato e l'Università dovrebbe vergognarsi di mettere gli studenti in tali condizioni. Ora risiedo al The Link di University City e lo consiglio vivamente perché la zona è molto sicura, economica e il personale è molto disponibile.
