Da giugno a novembre di ogni anno, le balene australi migrano dall'Antartide verso le acque più calde al largo della costa sudafricana per accoppiarsi e partorire. Questi giganti gentili possono pesare fino a 60 tonnellate e sono noti per il loro comportamento giocoso: spesso fanno breccia (saltano fuori dall'acqua) o schiaffeggiano la coda sulla superficie.
La nostra barca è appositamente progettata per l'avvistamento delle balene: è bassa rispetto all'acqua in modo da poter avere una visuale migliore, ma anche abbastanza veloce da tenere il passo con queste veloci creature se decidono di allontanarsi a nuoto.
