Girls on the Run è un'organizzazione senza scopo di lucro che mira a ispirare le ragazze a essere gioiose, sane e sicure di sé attraverso un curriculum divertente e basato sull'esperienza che integra in modo creativo la corsa. Il programma è progettato per ragazze di età compresa tra 8 e 13 anni ed è disponibile nelle contee di Maricopa e Pinal.

Il curriculum del programma consiste in 20 lezioni che vengono consegnate in un periodo di 10 settimane. Ogni lezione si concentra su un argomento specifico come l'autostima, l'immagine corporea, la prevenzione del bullismo, la definizione degli obiettivi, il lavoro di squadra e il servizio alla comunità. Le lezioni sono progettate per essere interattive e coinvolgenti in modo che le ragazze possano imparare attraverso attività basate sul gioco.
Uno degli aspetti unici di Girls on the Run è il suo focus sull'attività fisica. La corsa è usata come strumento per costruire resistenza, forza e fiducia nelle ragazze giovani. Il programma culmina in una corsa celebrativa di 5 km in cui i partecipanti hanno l'opportunità di mostrare le loro nuove abilità mentre vengono acclamati da familiari, amici e volontari.
