Il Directorate of National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP) è un'organizzazione governativa sotto il Ministero della salute e del benessere familiare in India. L'obiettivo principale di NVBDCP è controllare e prevenire malattie trasmesse da vettori come malaria, dengue, chikungunya, filariosi linfatica, kala-azar ed encefalite giapponese.

L'NVBDCP è stato istituito nel 2003 con l'obiettivo di fornire supporto tecnico agli Stati per l'efficace attuazione delle strategie di controllo dei vettori. Il programma ha avuto successo nel ridurre l'onere delle malattie trasmesse da vettori in tutta l'India attraverso vari interventi come zanzariere trattate con insetticidi, irrorazione di residui interni, larvicidi e sorveglianza basata sulla comunità.

Una delle iniziative chiave intraprese da NVBDCP è il quadro nazionale per l'eliminazione della malaria (NFME). Questo quadro mira a eliminare la malaria dall'India entro il 2030 attraverso un approccio globale che includa diagnosi e cure precoci, uso mirato di insetticidi e farmaci, rafforzamento dei sistemi di sorveglianza a tutti i livelli.

Oltre a NFME, NVBDCP implementa anche altri programmi come National Dengue Control Program (NDCP), Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP), Lymphatic Filariosis Elimination Program (LFEP), Kala-Azar Elimination Program (KAEP), Japanese Encephalitis Control Program (JECP ) tra gli altri.

NVBDCP ha avuto successo nel realizzare progressi significativi verso il controllo delle malattie trasmesse da vettori. Ad esempio, c'è stato un calo dei casi di malaria da 2 milioni di casi segnalati ogni anno prima del 2005 a meno di un milione di casi segnalati ogni anno dal 2018. Allo stesso modo, c'è stata una riduzione dei casi di dengue da oltre 100 mila casi segnalati ogni anno prima del 2017 a meno di cinquantamila casi segnalati ogni anno da allora.
