Mio zio Mike è passato serenamente la scorsa notte in presenza dei suoi assistenti preferiti. A nome della famiglia di Michael Flaherty, volevo dire grazie. Sono sua nipote, mia madre Paula era la sorella più giovane di Mike... ma so che tutti voi conoscete mia zia Linda e la maggior parte delle altre nostre famiglie che erano ospiti di Mike. Siamo davvero grati per la qualità delle cure e della compassione che avete mostrato a mio zio negli anni in cui è stato lì. Conoscevamo la natura della sua condizione, ma voi ragazzi non avete mai vacillato nel prendervi cura di lui... il mio cuore si riempie di gratitudine quando penso a quanto siete fantastici. Io e la mia famiglia viviamo in Virginia perché io e mio marito eravamo entrambi nella Marina degli Stati Uniti, quindi non siamo stati in grado di essere lì con Michael come volevamo. Abbiamo sempre saputo che era in buone mani con voi e tutti noi sapevamo quanto lo staff fosse dedicato ai Veterani e alle loro famiglie. A David, Nancy, Fatima, Donna e tutti gli altri al Chelsea, vorrei che potessimo fare di più per voi ragazzi per mostrare il nostro apprezzamento. Mio fratello era un residente in una struttura di assistenza infermieristica a lungo termine prima di morire. In precedenza viveva in una casa di cura assistita e in una casa di cura. La Casa dei Soldati era di gran lunga il posto migliore per lui. Non posso ringraziare abbastanza lo staff per la cura e il rispetto che hanno dato a mio fratello. Amava vivere lì e sapevamo che era stato curato da alcuni dei migliori infermieri che avessi mai incontrato. Amava il cibo ed è uno dei posti più puliti in cui ha vissuto. Tutti i membri del personale, dalle infermiere, agli idraulici, agli assistenti e ai terapisti, sono così gentili e amichevoli. Se sei un veterano o hai un parente veterano e ha bisogno di cure, non esitare a metterti in lista d'attesa. Fai un giro del luogo e incontra le persone che ci lavorano. Non rimarrai deluso.

La mia esperienza si è conclusa con me che infrango le regole. Ma se sei un veterano e hai bisogno di un tetto sopra la testa e vuoi scendere dalla strada e ricominciare da capo, è dinamite. È come avere una casa. Gli uomini e le donne che vivono le loro vogliono le stesse cose. Inoltre film in teatro.

La parola amore è un'esagerazione eccessiva. Durante il mio turno di lavoro (lavoro) ho avuto il piacere di visitare i soldati del Chelsea a casa e fuori, guardando il posto sembrava ben organizzato ei veterani che mi hanno assistito erano molto rispettosi e desiderosi di aiutare.
