Lavorano a stretto contatto con assistenti sociali, avvocati, insegnanti, terapisti e altri professionisti coinvolti nella vita del bambino per raccogliere informazioni sui loro bisogni e formulare raccomandazioni al tribunale in merito alle opzioni di collocamento.
I volontari CASA svolgono un ruolo essenziale nel garantire che i bambini ricevano servizi adeguati mentre sono in affidamento. Monitorano i progressi verso gli obiettivi delineati dai piani dei casi sviluppati dagli assistenti sociali o da altri professionisti coinvolti in ciascun caso; sostenere i servizi necessari come cure mediche o di salute mentale; partecipare alle udienze in tribunale; visitare regolarmente ogni bambino; fornire supporto emotivo; aiutare a identificare potenziali case permanenti quando il ricongiungimento non è possibile; assistere con bisogni educativi come tutoraggio o iscrizione scolastica, se necessario.
L'impatto di CASA sulle vite individuali non può essere sopravvalutato: è incommensurabile! I bambini a cui è stato assegnato un volontario CASA tendono a fare meglio di quelli che ne sono sprovvisti perché ricevono maggiore attenzione da parte di adulti premurosi che sostengono esclusivamente a loro nome durante quello che può essere un processo travolgente pieno di incertezza.
Oltre al suo programma di volontariato, CASA fornisce anche programmi di educazione della comunità volti a sensibilizzare su questioni relative all'affidamento come pratiche informate sul trauma quando si lavora con giovani colpiti da abusi / abbandono / storia di traumi ecc., come le famiglie possono diventare affidatari autorizzati genitori stessi se interessati (e cosa comporta), come le persone possono donare tempo/denaro/risorse ecc., modi in cui aziende/organizzazioni possono essere coinvolte attraverso sponsorizzazioni/partnership/volontariato ecc..
Nel complesso, CASA svolge un ruolo importante all'interno della nostra comunità - dando voce dove altrimenti potrebbe non essercene una - sostenendo instancabilmente fino a quando ogni bambino non avrà trovato sicurezza e stabilità all'interno di case amorevoli a cui appartiene!
