Quando ci siamo trasferiti ad Anacortes dieci anni fa, abbiamo ampliato la nostra attività nell'area e siamo diventati membri della Camera di Commercio di Anacortes. Inizialmente, siamo stati ben accolti come nuovi membri e, come altre aziende in città, abbiamo partecipato a eventi da camera e coinvolgimento sui loro siti di social media. Abbiamo notato che ci era stato impedito di interagire con la loro pagina Facebook e abbiamo chiesto perché eravamo bloccati, a differenza di altre aziende, alle aziende più vecchie e più consolidate con la Camera erano concessi privilegi e la nostra attività no. Abbiamo ricevuto risposte vaghe che non rispondevano alla nostra preoccupazione e, fino ad oggi, siamo ancora bloccati dall'impegnarci con la pagina Facebook della Camera. Abbiamo deciso di terminare la nostra iscrizione perché eravamo turbati dalla discriminazione nei confronti della nostra attività e dalla mancanza di accesso alle comunicazioni camerali online. Fai attenzione se sei una nuova attività in città: non abbiamo visto alcun vantaggio dall'adesione e siamo stati trattati in modo diverso rispetto ad altre aziende più vecchie e consolidate.

Ho dovuto visitare l'ufficio delle licenze dei veicoli ad Anacortes, che prima si trovava nell'ufficio della Camera di Commercio per il Commercio. Non ci andavo da anni e pensavo fosse lo stesso ufficio. La donna della Camera di Commercio, BETTY, mi ha guardato e ha detto: 'Torna indietro di 3 gradini e guarda alla tua sinistra. HO DETTO INDIETRO e guardo alla vostra sinistra "Beh, la mia sinistra era Commercial St e ho detto: 'Sinistra?' E lei mi ha guardato come se fossi il deficiente del secolo e ha detto: "Sì, ho detto di sinistra. Vedrai un segno ENORME, quindi torna indietro e guarda". OMG, era così scortese. Usare quel tono di voce è inaccettabile, specialmente nella posizione in cui si trova. Orribile.
