The Securities and Exchange Board of India is responsible for the protection of the interests of investors in securities and to implement the development and regulation of the securities market. It is engaged in conducting investigations, providing legal assistance and frameworks, guidelines, statistics, and services related to the development of the securities market. The Securities and Exchange Board of India operates with the assistance of several departments such as the Market Intermediaries Regulation and Supervision Department, the Corporation Finance Department, the Market Regulation Department, the Investment Management Department, Integrated Surveillance Department, and other segments. The Securities and Exchange Board of India was enacted on April 12, 1992, in accordance with the provisions of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992. It is based in Mumbai, India.
